We’ve made the hot pepper taffy for a close relative with cancer, and
she says it works well.  The taffy is really not very hot to the taste.  
You can find the recipe in Cancer FAQ at

I saw an article on the news that Dentist have access to new treatment for
mouth sores. Someone has taken an aloe vera derivitive and figured a way
to keep it on the sore without salive interfering with it. After a couple
hours its absorbed and then reapplied. Sorry I don’t have a name to give
you, but your dentists probably has info.
