I was successfully treated with chemo therapy 18 month ago. now am won
dering what to do if cancer re occures. the doctor tells me he would
not be able to help me if it happens. have you any suggestions like
herbs etc, etc?
thanks for your attention to this letter in advance. please e-mail me
at gwei…@direct.ca if you can help.
I completed chemo about 19 months ago for lymphoma–Stage III,
Intermediate Grade. After four months I had a recurrence which they
believed was the initial site and it was treated with radiation. They
told me than that if it recurred we would consider high-dose chemo and/or
bone marrow transplant.
I have a good book (Everyone’s Guide to Cancer Therapy, Dollinger) which
suggests high-dose chemo and BMT are for those 55 and under. I will only
be 55 and under for another 16 months.
Since you have stayed cancer-free 18 months, there seems to be all kinds
of room for hope.
What reason is he giving you for this complete lack of encouragement?
What does he say the chances are of its coming back? Do you know what
stage and grade of lymphoma you had?
This all sounds real nosy when I read it, but your answers might be able
to help me, also. The only two people I have ever known to have lymphoma
are no longer with us. Its becoming more common each year, but my
radiation oncologist told me that four years earlier his aunt was
diagnosed with it. His mother called him to find out all she could and my
doctor had to go to his books before he could discuss it. He is as old as
I am, I’m sure, and he had never treated it.
How are you feeling now? How well did you handle chemo and how long were
you treated?
Please answer (and please go to a public library and read the chapter on
lymphhoma in the book I mentioned).
Sincerely,
Linda Kleem
