A friend of mine has Adenocarcinoma Dukes C. that has metastisized to the
pleura of the lung from the colon. He is currently undergoing radiation
treatment with Leukovorin and F-U.
He is interested is finding out about the use of unconventional treatment
approaches to boosting his immune system (white blood cell count) as well
as protecting his liver.
Additionally, he is taking nutritional supplements such as high doses of
Ester-C and sharks cartilage. He has asked me to do research on
L-Cystine, glutathione and phospholipids and the effect they have on the
WBC.
I would appreciate any information on the subject. Thanks in advance.

You may be interested in a nutritional product that was recently tested by the USDA in a
small research study. It was published as an abstract and presented at the spring FASEB mtg
in Atlanta (~March ’95)
It was shown to increase killer T-cells by 20% (after a 100-day low carotenoid diet).
Beta-carotene alone was shown to have a very modest effect, while a *normal* dose of the
carotenoid supplement caused a 20% increase (10% over beta-carotene). I can e-mail you
more information if this is of interest to you.

If it wouldn’t be to much trouble, I would like to find out more about
this product.
I was diagnosed in June of this year with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
and have recieved 37 radiation treatments and 4 cycles of chemo. My
tumor was reduced to what the doctors say is scar tissue.
Since my diagnosis I have been taking vitamins which my Doctor
recommended. These vitamins where Antioxidant cell protectors and the
daily dosage contained 12 mg of bata-Carotene.
I think the increased product of killer T-cells could be of benifit
to me.
Thank You in advance.
