Dear Matt — There is a terrific discussion group online, the BMT-Talk
group. It’s moderated, very well-informed and very lively. There are
about 250-300 folks on that group — many patients, survivors, family
members, friends, health care professionals, etc. It’s a tremendous
clearing house for information and to give and get support. The diseases
treated are leukemia (and lymphomas), breast cancer and ovarian. There
are also folks on that group who have those diseases, and probably will
NOT be having a BMT, but find the group has good info on coping with
cancer in general. After all, there is a lot to deal with, even if one
doesn’t go the full route to a BMT. To subscribe, send a message to
bmt-talk-requ…@ai.mit.edu
in the text, simply put subscribe
The messages will start arriving within a few hours – the group churns up
about 10-15 posts/day, some for information, some with good news, some
sad, some humorous……..people compare transplant centers thru it,
compare the advice their physicians and nurses give them, discuss how to
talk to their children, etc, etc, etc……
very best — Judith Miller (I had an allogeneic BMT 2.5 yrs ago for AML
at Emory in Atlanta and am doing great…..)
