Does anyone know where I can find information on how fast colorectal
cancer
spreads, based on age?
I have searched in the obvious places — Oconlink, etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

NIH maintains a Gopher search at
gopher://gopher.nih.gov/77/gopherlib/indices/crisp/index
if you type in clinical trial, you’ll get a listing of clinical trials.
Good Luck
To whom this may concern,
Our daughter, Ilse, of 24 months is in the Acadamic
Hospital in Groningen, Holland. The neurologist
of the children section certified us that she suffers
from S.M.A. (Spinale Muscular Atrophy), type II.
Type I: Illness of Werding Hoffman
Type III: Illness of Wohlfahrt Kugelberg Welander
Type II: The intermediate form.
Only 1 to 4 persons a year gets this disease in Holland.
There is little known about S.M.A. and the way how to
cure it (if it is possible).
We want very much: information about S.M.A. to
help us fighting this, although we have little hope.
Please e-mail us at "rocea…@worldaccess.nl".

I have a 79 year old grandmother who has had Parkinsons’ disease for the
last 16 years. She is a psychologist so she has been very active in her
treatment for this devastating disease. Up until the last few years,
she maintained an exercise program that involved yoga and walking on a
regular basis. She also believes that a injury to her head many years
ago contributed to her being afflicted by this illness. She seems to be
rapidly failing as of late, bordering on becoming Agrophobic, because she
has lost confidence in her health. Due to self induced stress, which I
am wondering if this isn’t a side effect of all the medication she is on,
she tends to freeze up and lose all control of body movement.
Consequently she is liable to just fall over. She has been hearing of a
new surgical procedure to treat Parkinson’s. If anyone has heard
anything I would love to hear from you. She is a very special person and
any information that I receive I would pass on to her. Thank you!
Her grandaughter,
Laurie

HELP! I need info and hopefully reassurance.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
This week my mother went to an eye doctor who noticed a twitching in her
left eye. The twitching has been an on/off problem since ’91 but has not
been severe. He recommended she see a neurologist and get an MRI. The MRI
showed 2 tumors. One the size of a quarter in the left frontal region and
one the size of a marble in the region directly in from the right ear.
After seeing the MRI she told the doctor that she has also been noticing
hearing problems in the right ear in the last year or so.
I have not seen the scans but my mother, 71 yrs old, retired nurse, said
that the tumors were quite smooth, spherical and localized. She is seeing
an ear doctor today.
Other symptoms in retrospect include occasional loss of short-term memory.
(ie. made dinner and then forgot whether she had or not.)
She is 71. Perhaps only 10-15 pounds overweight. Very active and healthy in
all other respects.
Questions?
———-
I assume the smooth nature of the tumors is promising in regard to being
benign or malignant. Is this true?
If benign, what is the likelihood that the tumours will require removal
anyway?
What are the major risks of such an operation?
If malignant, what is the general course of action, time and
procedure-wise?
What are the success rates, in general, for both benign and malignant brain
tumour extraction?
What questions need to be raised to the doctors and surgeons to ensure that
all factors are being considered in the course of treatment?
Given a successful conclusion to her treatment, what are the odds of
recurrence of both benign and malignant tumours?
Can anyone give me any high reccomendations for Neurosurgeons in either
Billings, MT(parents live) or in Denver(where I live).
—————
I found out about this last night and it has been quite a shock but I want
to make sure that we ask the right questions of the doctors and have the
most info possible when deciding on the approval of any treatments.
Again, thanks to any who can provide information.
PLEASE!! In addition to posting could any responders also e-mail me
directly at;

Acupressure: Can It Help Your Condition?
The Acu-Ki Institute is gathering data to answer the
above question. We are a non-profit organization that
provides information, which allows individuals to use
acupressure for their conditions. Our goal is to make
this knowledge available to all who are interested. We
are also gathering data about your results in order to
continue to document what works best for different
kinds of problems. While we do not diagnose or treat
your condition, we provide information, tools, others’
results, research data and will assist you in various
ways in your introduction to acupressure.
The information we gather here will be used for
research reports and to begin acupressure programs in
schools, businesses, hospitals, healthcare centers and
doctors offices. We have identified acupressure points
for over 3200 diseases and symptoms and want to know
how these points work for your condition. Currently we
are most interested in research with people with
conditions related to arthritis, cancer, chronic pain,
aids, and MS. If you are interested send us your
e-mail address. We will mail you information about
acupressure, the points for your condition and how you
can participate.

Acupressure May Replace Mammograms
for Breast Cancer Screening
Previous studies conducted by Monte Cunningham at The Acu-Ki
Institute have verified that the feet and hands reflect miniature
representations of the body. Several women with previously
diagnosed breast cancer who were a part of the these studies
showed marked soreness on the points on their hands and feet that
relate to the breast. A series of studies will establish a
practical application of these results in the screening and
treating of health problems related to breast cancer.
Help us document the benefits of alternative therapies. We need
people with breast or lung cancer, high cancer risk groups,
fibrocystic lumps in breast, people who have had these problems
and have been treated, or people who are interested in using this
screening method rather than (or in addition to) a yearly
mammogram. Screening can be done at home with simple pressure
applied to acupuncture points on the hands and feet. Send us
e-mail address for more information about participating in the
Acu-Ki Cancer Study.

DO YOU KNOW IMFORMATION ABOUT THE BEST ONCOLOGICAL CENTERS IN AUSTRALIA?
My husband had his Kidney removed on May 30 and is waiting to start a
treatment with IL-2. However, his calcium level is high. And cannot get
the treatment while his level is up. He is on IV right now and being
treated with Pamidranate? It lowered the calcium level, but he was told
that it is elevated again. (within 24 hours) Is anyone familiar with
this? Can you tell me what we might want to do? He is getting a bone
scan done, and we are waiting for the results. We should know today –
the results, but I’m looking for options or the reality of what is going
on.
I have a question regarding cancer and its probabilities. My mother and father
were recently both diagnosed with cancer. My mother has an unspecified tumor
that is on a kidney. The doctor is waiting to see if it grows.
My father starts chemotherapy tomorrow and radiation treatment (once) the
next day. He has had problems swallowing and has lost weight from eating
problems. The diagnosis was esophagial carcinoma (sp?). Basically the tube
leading to his stomach has been compressed by a tumor. What strikes me as
a real problem, now that some of the shock of his diagnosis has passed, is that
the doctor stated "… that (my father) is the third patient this week diagnosed
by (the doctor) with the (same cancer at the same location)". This strikes me
as almost too improbable to imagine. The town has about 70,000 people. Cancer
is on the rise (at least diagnosis and treatment are).
Am I unjustified to take this doctor’s comment and wonder about a common
cause or environmental factor? I am not seeking reasons for my father’s
illness; it just doesn’t seem likely to me that these events are unrelated. I know
nothing of the other patients (nor should I) and am still waiting to see what
will happen to my father.
Could someone with more experience in these matters please answer this
question? Thank you all.
