To whom it may concern,
Hi, my name is Marjorie Nguyen. I’m currently enrolled at Emory
University and currently facing the decision of whether or not medicine
will be part of my future.
The reason for my doubt lies in the fact that I’m a WOMAN who wants both
a family and a career.
Is this possible? Are there any women doctors out there who has a
successful career AND a good family life? Is it possible to be both a
dedicated doctor, a loving mother and wife? Is it realistic to want both?
How do you manage to juggle both of these very demanding full-time jobs?
I think that I will love medicine. It involves two things that I value
greatly: the opportunity to learn, and the ability to use that knowledge
to help people. I have wanted to be a doctor for a very long time.
However, the question of whether my gender would be a hinderance has only
recently crossed my mind when I heard about some women who went through
medical school only to give up medicine in order to have a successful
family life.
Is this a common story in the world of medicine for women?
If you are a woman doctor (or if you know of any success stories),
please, PLEASE write to me (personally if possible). I would greatly
appreciate any comments or words of wisdom on the matter.

Thankyou in advance.
